A Few Questions With Josh
Q: When you’re not hunting, what are you doing? (we know you do it all so answer however)
A: I’m probably writing, fishing, cooking, or ranching. But its most likely ranching the job that never sleeps, because it usually means that you are fixing something while three other things are breaking.
Q: Favorite memory in the outdoors?
A: I’ve had some great times and made some good stories, a few of them I would never put in writing. But the memory that sticks with the most is the one I haven’t made yet. I’m always looking forward to the next trip, the next dinner table full of friends and family eating, telling stories from a day in the field or on the water. This is what keeps me moving forward.
Q: Hot take/controversial opinion?
A: If you can’t sit still your expensive camo is just a costume.
Q: What would be your death row meal?
A: That’s easy Cassoulet. I dig into it and find a duck call. It looks like my hunting buddy Dwight came through. I chuckle in the largest flock of greenheads you’ve ever seen, and they carry me over the walls. After I escape, I begin my search to find the poachers that framed me. But seriously probably Cassoulet and a good pinot.
Q: What is your top Bucket list Item?
A: A full season in Alaska. Not a trip, a season: living guide's hours, fish through the run, hunt the back end of it, cook everything I catch.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: A mentor told me once that in business I should find the thing that you are good at and focus there. Surround yourself with people who are equally as good at the other aspects of the business and let them do their thing.
Q: What does "Made for it" mean to you?
A: You are ready to roll; there is nowhere you’d rather be than where you presently stand. Whatever you’re doing, riding broncs, chasing birds, scaling mountains, targeting tarpon or cooking a camp meal. You are all in, you're lost in it.
